Luminescent Object Boxes
The luminescent object box series are theatrical settings for the paper figures, named the "beer people" these figures were coincidentally created many years ago in an old Berliner beer bar. Their name originates from the material that they are made of, the drop catcher for a beer glass to absorb the foam drippings, in the German beer culture called Tropfenfänger.
Each figure is torn and folded into form out of one single paper ring, with no additional parts, except the toothpick that is attached to the
back side for stability. This delicate technique is a unique and authentic creation, not a copy from Origami.
All of these works are created to diverse themes where the figures
“ the beer people” are the protagonists, full of physical expression and individuality. Many of the backgrounds are photographic with a modified color scheme, and other settings are colorful and monochrome. The surface of the glass is printed with excerpts from her poetry, texts that are transposed into the binary number code, representing the computerized era that we are living in. These texts are ever present in all of her works.
The words series have a sculptural three- dimensional aspect where words that are made in wood, are installed with diverse configurations in the object box. All of these words are painted in a soft white tone with a smooth finish, where the figures are placed onto.
The series of the Band Boxes are works with the theme band in a box. The “the beer people” in diverse formations are playing instruments, where each figure including the instrument is folded out of one single paper ring, with no additional parts except the toothpick or styrofoam base for stability. The lighting in the boxes varies, depending on the theme.
The luminsecent object boxes are all made out of wood, paper, styrofoam, glass, plexiglass and LED lighting.
